Mark Iwanowski Chairman, Open Source Storage

Former SVP global IT and CIO for Oracle

Open Source Storage LLC, creators of enterprise storage solutions, announced that former Oracle executive, Mark Iwanowski has been named chairman.

Iwanowski,Open Source Storage A veteran of the technology sector for the past two decades, he has focused on developing IT services, VC investments, mergers and acquisitions and corporate transformations.

As former senior VP global IT and CIO for Oracle Corporation, Iwanowski helped build Oracle’s On Demand (SaaS/cloud) services using open source solutions for its IT infrastructure. His team consolidated 95 regional data centers to one Global Tier IV data center, resulting in a savings of $1 billion. He was also a member of Oracle’s product development committee that reviewed all acquisitions and was involved in the integration of over $15 billion of acquisitions.

Established more than a decade ago, Open Source Storage re-launched in December 2013 with a family of storage solutions and support services. The company, which works with start-ups, Fortune 500 corporations and government agencies, designs, installs and maintains enterprise datacenters built on open source software and open standards components to deliver high performance scalable solutions, reducing the total costs of data ownership by an average of 30%. These savings are possible by eliminating the software licensing fees and hardware costs associated with proprietary storage solutions.

Prior to Open Source Storage, Iwanowski served as MD with Trident Capital, focusing on investments in clean tech and IT, software and communications. He also co-managed a transformational outsourcing business at SAIC, which included large dollar agreements with San Diego County and Level 3 Communications. In addition, he had held executive positions with Raytheon and Honeywell, and was a principal in two start-ups.

Iwanowski holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in engineering from California Institute of Technology and a MBA from National University.
