Jeffrey Hausman CEO, CloudPhysics

Former Symantec SVP replaced John Blumenthal.

CloudPhysics, Inc., in predictive analytics for virtual datacenter management, has appointed Jeffrey Hausman as CEO and member of the board of directors, effective July 14, 2014.

CloudPhysics,Hausman A technology industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience encompassing cloud, SaaS, virtualization, and storage, he most recently held the position of senior VP at Symantec responsible for the $1 billion information availability and intelligence group.

Founding CEO John Blumenthal will now lead product strategy in the role of VP of product management and remains on the board of directors.

CloudPhysics last month released its new Storage Analytics and announced $15 million in Series C funding from investors Mayfield, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Jafco Ventures. The company was founded in 2011 with the mission to continuously deliver insights to IT teams for actively managing the dynamics of their virtualized infrastructures. To that end, the company’s servers collect a daily stream of more than 140 billion samples of configuration, performance, failure, and event data from its global user base, with a total of 50+ trillion samples collected to date. This ‘Collective Intelligence,’ combined with CloudPhysics’ patent-pending datacenter simulation and resource management techniques, empowers enterprise IT to drive Google-like operations excellence, using actionable analytics from a large, relevant, continually refreshed dataset.

Jeff and I worked together at Veritas where I saw firsthand his executive and operational leadership strength,” said Blumenthal. “With his success in driving growth at both early stage and established companies, deep domain knowledge of virtualization and storage, and experience with SaaS-based business models, Jeff is uniquely qualified to lead CloudPhysics into the next high-growth phase of the company’s life.

CloudPhysics is redefining how IT uses data to manage the datacenter, and help customers leverage ‘Collective Intelligence’ to achieve operational excellence through data-driven decision making,” said Hausman. “It’s an honor to join the highly innovative, award-winning CloudPhysics team. I look forward to further accelerating our growth and leading the company to even greater levels of success.”

Hausman joined Symantec in 2011 with the acquisition of LiveOffice where he served as COO for the provider of cloud archiving solutions, now known as EV.cloud. During his tenure, the EV.cloud business grew more than 150%, and he subsequently assumed leadership of Symantec’s information availability and intelligence group, directing a team of 2,000 employees to deliver offerings in storage, availability, archiving, and eDiscovery.

Previously, he held executive positions at Veritas, Symantec, and HP focused on storage, data management, and security in software, SaaS, and hardware businesses. During his earlier tenure at Symantec (through the acquisition of Veritas), he was VP and GM for Symantec’s SaaS business and held various product management and marketing roles for a number of enterprise products and services. Earlier in his career, he held roles at several early-stage venture-backed technology companies and served as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies as part of Booz & Co.

During this time of growth, there is no better person than Jeff to lead the CloudPhysics team. It’s a win first for CloudPhysics’ founders, as well as for customers, partners, employees, and investors who believe in the vision and long-term value of the company,” said Mike Abbott, member of the board of directors and general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. “Jeff brings a track record of accomplishment and a skillset to capture the market opportunity ahead, building on the solid foundation and momentum achieved by the CloudPhysics team under John’s leadership.”
