Gary Smerdon CEO, TidalScale

TidalScale, Inc., in software-scaled computing, appointed Gary Smerdon as president and CEO.

TidalScale founder Dr. Ike Nassi will assume the roles of COB and CTO.

Smerdon brings more than 30 years of technology industry experience and served in number executive and general management roles leading teams across sales, marketing, engineering, and operations. At Fusion-io, Smerdon led the development of the company strategy and product roadmap as well as drove the $1.3 billion acquisition of Fusion-io by SanDisk. Prior to that he was SVP and GM of the Accelerated Solutions Division at LSI. He founded this internal start-up ramping the business to over $100 million in two years. Prior to this, he established LSI’s corporate strategy office responsible for creating the blueprint for the long-term corporate strategy including establishing the company as a leader in flash-based solutions. Additionally, he held executive positions at Greenfield Networks (acquired by Cisco), Tarari (acquired by LSI), Marvell, and AMD. His board experience as a director or observer includes Greenfield Networks, SandForce (acquired by LSI), Teranetics (acquired by PLX), and 3Leaf Systems.

Smerdon holds three patents and is a graduate of Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
