Fredy Cheung Area VP, Greater China, NetApp

NetApp,cheungNetApp, Inc. appointd Fredy Cheung as area VP, Greater China.

 

 

 

As an industry veteran, he brings expertise and knowledge to NetApp in the region and across the globe.

He also has an experience with insights about the diversified new economic models of Greater China’s ICT market. He will lead the company’s go-to-market activities, including sales, presales engineering, and multi-pathway business, based in NetApp’s Beijing office.

He will report to Rick Scurfield, president of NetApp AsiaPac.

Cheung was previously the CEO of Capital Online Data Services Ltd. Beijing, an IaaS provider specializing in solutions for e-commerce, Internet gaming, online education, and other Internet applications. Before that, he spent more than 25 years in sales and sales roles with 3Com and Cisco. Most recently he was corporate VP and GM of the China enterprise/service provider/commercial business for Cisco in Beijing.

Active in laying the foundation for e-government on an international scale, Cheung was the force behind a series of international AsiaPac public services summits held in Beijing between 2004 and 2012. This initiative brought together representatives and government officials from over 20 countries around the world to share best practices and build networks to foster cross-border government collaborations.

According to Scurfield, Greater China is one of NetApp’s most strategic growth markets. He also states that this market has performed consistently as well as been recognized as one of the region’s Great Places to Work for four consecutive years.

Speaking about his new role, Cheung said: “I am deeply honored to join NetApp’s impressive management team in Asia and to be entrusted with continuing the great work they have achieved. Greater China will continue to be a major driver of global economic growth and its technology industry will undoubtedly play an immense role in the country’s relentless journey toward digital transformation.

A native of Hong Kong, he holds an electrical and electronic engineering degree from the University of Nottingham in England.
