FCIA 2014/2015 Board of Directors Elected

Mark Jones, Emulex, continues as president and succeeds Skip Jones, formerly at QLogic, as chairman.

The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA), a non-profit international organization of manufacturers, systems integrators and vendors, has elected a board of directors to serve its membership for the 2014-2015 term.

The FCIA organization consists of 23 global member companies, all of which are in the FC industry and continue to provide thought education and guidance to the storage networking market

In 2014, FCIA announced several initiatives designed to extend FC’s position as a reliable and robust storage networking solution including:

  • Gen 6 FC,  the industry’s fastest industry standard networking protocol that enables SANs of up to 128Gb FC
  • A workgroup within the INCITS T11 Committee that will align FC fabric connectivity using the upcoming  NVMe Over Fabrics standards specification
  • Finalization of the FC-BB-6 standard, representing the ongoing evolution of the FC technology to leverage ubiquitous datacenter resources such as Ethernet
  • A ‘Trusted Foundation’ initiative with an online Knowledge Vault to raise awareness to current and potential users of storage networking about why FC has become so predominant, amid a sea of other storage networking protocols
