Was director of corporate strategy at Symantec.

ITRenew, Inc., in enterprise IT asset disposition (ITAD) services and data sanitization software, announced that Dr. Daniel Niclas has joined the company as VP of products and services.

In his new role, he will be responsible for engineering, development and quality for the Teraware enterprise-grade, secure data sanitization and asset management product line.

He joins ITRenew from Symantec where he served as director of corporate strategy and led several emerging technology product teams and global strategic corporate initiatives, including the joint venture between Symantec and Huawei Technologies.

He has experience commercializing novel technologies, driving innovative engines and leading primary technical research within enterprise organizations, small businesses and the academic setting.

Prior to Symantec, he held product management and engineering program management roles at Veritas Software.

He also was an application engineer developing high-throughput laboratory automation solutions for drug discovery experimentation, and served as assistant professor of biochemistry at Stetson University in DeLand, FL. By training, he is a biochemist, earning a Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles and an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is an American Heart Association Research Fellow.

The enthusiasm surrounding the Teraware offering is remarkable,” said Niclas. “I am looking forward to leading the enterprise software development team and delivering industry-leading, forensic-level data sanitization solutions to help securely and responsibly manage the explosive growth of confidential data while maximizing asset value recovery for hyper-scale data centers.

Daniel’s experience leading technical and strategic initiatives for one of the world’s largest software companies was very attractive to us at ITRenew,” said Aidin Aghamiri, VP of corporate strategy. “We are experiencing tremendous growth, especially in the areas of high end enterprise and large data centers, and Daniel is an incredible addition to our team. He adds a new dimension to our product development efforts that will propel our Teraware platform to even greater success.”

Although data sanitization and ‘keeping-the-bad-guys-out’ security are different types of solutions, the two technologies share similar goals,” added Niclas. “Ultimately, we need to protect confidential data throughout the entire information lifecycle.”
