Andy Walsky VP EMEA and APAC Sales, ExaGrid

Formerly at Overland, NavaStor and Quantum

exagrid, walskyExaGrid Systems, Inc. appointed Andy Walsky as VP of sales, EMEA and APAC.

He brings sales leadership to the company, with two decades of experience developing and executing international channel and sales strategy, managing regional expansions, and driving market share with data storage experience in EMEA and Asia. In his new role, he will manage the sales function for Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

The fourth quarter of last year marked the first time that the worldwide PBBA market hit the billion-dollar mark in a given quarter, reflecting how end users are increasingly recognizing PBBA systems as an integral part of their data protection strategy,” said Bill Andrews, CEO. “This is an exciting time for Andy to join our executive team, and we’re confident that his strong track record leading EMEA and APAC sales initiatives will greatly benefit our company and our customers as we continue to deliver on the promise of next-generation backup storage appliances that provide 2x to 3x the backup performance and 5x to 10x faster backups, restores and VM boots over legacy inline deduplication appliances.”

Walsky joins ExaGrid with a background of consistently delivering sales growth and bottom-line results. He previously served as VP, EMEA and APAC sales and marketing for Overland Storage, where he increased channel sales over 50% over two years. He was also founder and CEO of NavaStor S.A. in Switzerland, and served as director, EMEA marketing at Quantum Corporation. He holds an MBA from London Business School.

This executive sales appointment also comes at a time of unprecedented growth for ExaGrid. Last month, the company announced that its software upgrade Version 4.8 for its family of backup storage appliances increased backup capacity by nearly 80% while adding bandwidth throttling and encryption during replication to further enhance the company’s stress-free backup solutions. ExaGrid’s largest system can take in an 800TB full backup with an ingest rate that is three times faster than the EMC Data Domain 9500, at half the price.

ExaGrid is a visionary and leader in delivering its next-generation disk-based backup storage solution that was designed from the ground up specifically to meet the demands of today’s IT backup infrastructure,” said Walsky. “I’m excited to be a part of the team and help drive our next phase of growth in EMEA and Asia. We’ll expand ExaGrid’s footprint and deliver the industry’s leading scale-out backup appliances that can handle any amount of data and permanently fix the backup window as data grows. Inline deduplication appliances just can’t claim that.
