SGI to Resell Seagate ClusterStor Solutions

For HPC workflows

Seagate Technology plc has signed a reselling partnership agreement with Silicon Graphics International Corp. (SGI).

SGI will be offering customers the ClusterStor 1500, 6000, and 9000 appliances, along with the ClusterStor Secure Data Appliance (SDA).

Engineered for HPC workflows, ClusterStor solutions combine dense storage enclosures, HA metadata servers, scale-out servers and the Lustre parallel file system in a tightly-coupled appliance.

The ClusterStor solution removes the complexities associated with deploying and maintaining traditional systems yielding faster time to results, ease of use and management, and performance to meet mission-critical needs.

The market and subsequent application use for a combined Seagate and SGI architecture is diverse. Users include bioinformatics, pharmaceutical discovery, upstream oil and gas modeling, financial analytics, weather simulation, automotive and aerospace manufacturing, as well as traditional HPC customers in academic and government research.

We’re very excited about the promise both companies are committed to fulfilling through this partnership,” explained Ken Claffey, VP of ClusterStor, Seagate cloud systems and solutions. “It is especially advantageous for those in research, across various industries, who require turnkey computational solutions that include parallel file system and appliances to accelerate research workflows.

Working with Seagate, our joint customers will be able to utilize each solution’s strengths and achieve benefits such as increased performance, extreme scalability, cost-effectiveness and ease-of-use,” said Jorge Titinger, president and CEO, SGI. “With Seagate HPC storage solutions, integrated with SGI’s compute solutions, customers can yield faster time to results and world-class performance to meet mission-critical needs.

Seagate and SGI were exhibiting at SC14, November 16-21 in New Orleans, LA.
