Seagate 4TB 3.5-Inch HDD Powers Server From Sugon Information Industry

Seagate Technology plc announced a partnership with Sugon Information Industry Co., ltd., an information system integrated service provider, whereby the computer maker will incorporate its 4TB Enterprise 3.5 HDD into its TC4600T line of server products.

Designed for large scale data centers, the Sugon TC4600T server is engineered for a range of demanding applications, including server SANs, and converged storage and object storage.

With the increasing needs for HD photographs and long term scientific research, storage capacity is playing an increasingly critical role in these systems. The Enterprise 3.5 HDD addresses these demands by delivering performance in a large capacity, high velocity storage device to reliably support these expanding applications.

Designed for 24×7 operations, the Enterprise 3.5 HDD is a high-performing 4TB HDD accelerating capabilities for data ingest and analytics at a fast streaming data rate of over 300MB/s. Featuring fast data transmission and good cost-performance ratio available, it is well suited for HPC, big data analytics, and scale-out storage scenarios. The drive fulfills applications in a range of sectors including education, scientific research, cloud computing and government.

This HDD includes the 12Gb SAS interface for future system scalability. It also has a 2 million hour MTBF rating, 750 TB/year workload rate limit for reliability providing performance in tough environments. In contrast with traditional nearline HDDs, the drive also provides sequential and random read and write performance.
