Qsan Working With Seagate

To showcase large-scale HD IP camera solution

QSAN Technology, Inc. showcased over 1,000 HD IP camera storage solution at Secutech Taipei 2016.

QSAN has worked with Seagate Technology plc to develop a proof-of-concept solution of large-scale HD IP camera deployment using AegisSAN LX P600Q model. As video surveillance industry moves towards HD and IP-based cameras, the stress on storage system is getting higher and higher.

QSAN has worked with Seagate to devise a large scale IP camera solution that involves over 1,000 HD IP cameras using 96 enterprise capacity 3.5″ HDDs with SATA interface. These Seagate HDDs provide high capacity as well as stable performance output to satisfy the requirement of over 1,000 IP cameras accessing the storage simultaneously. In dealing with large-scale surveillance system, block storage like iSCSI and FC is the ultimate choice to do the heavy lifting. In addition to performance and capacity, P600Q model offers system-wise HA through active-active dual controller design and enterprise-grade storage features such as writable snapshot, local cloning, remote replication, thin provisioning, and SSD caching to enhance data protection and increase storage efficiency. These functions are provided without extra charges.

The Seagate 10TB enterprise capacity 3.5″ HDD provides capacity for easy system integration by using the standard 3.5-inch CMR design. Incorporating seven platters and 14 heads, the drive seals in helium to create a turbulence-free, quiet environment, decreasing both friction and resistance on the platters and delivering the industry’s lowest power/TB ratio and weight specifications for a 10TB HDD. Offering 25% more density to help businesses increase petabytes per rack, the drive delivers higher performance and reduced power and weight.
