Paragon Universal File System Driver Licensed by Kingston and ZTE

Getting interoperability in mobile products

Paragon Software Group has secured agreements with Kingston Digital Inc. and ZTE Corporation.

Paragon’s Universal File System Driver (UFSD) solutions have been licensed by both companies to fuel mobile product initiatives, allowing them to deliver interoperability for their customers.

As mobile device usage continues its growth, with a study revealing that greater than 50% of online time is now spent on mobile platforms, interest in UFSD driver technology is on the rise in the OEM market, according to Tom Fedro, president, Paragon.

Paragon’s UFSD, including our exFAT and NTFS for Android offerings, play an important role in supporting our tier one OEMs’ efforts in the mobility market by ensuring high performance and complete interoperability with storage media of all kinds,” said Fedro. “We are very excited to have Kingston Digital and ZTE join our long list of OEM clients leveraging Paragon technology to deliver a powerful, uncompromising user experience.

ZTE , a publicly listed provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, has licensed Paragon’s exFAT/NTFS for Android driver solutions for use with select mobile phones that use microSD cards. The software enables these Android-based mobile phones to support 64GB, 128GB and larger microSD cards that are formatted to the exFAT or NTFS file system.

This capacity boost is critical because, without Paragon UFSD drivers, users would be limited to a maximum of only 32GB of storage per card, missing out on 50% or more of valuable storage space to support today’s more data-intensive content, such as video and graphics,” said Fedro.

Kingston, is leveraging UFSD technology as part of a new approach to storage for mobile devices. Many mobile products lack support for SD cards or USB drives, so storage options are limited; the Kingston MobileLite Wireless family of media readers fills this market void. These wifi media streamers incorporate Paragon’s embedded exFAT and NTFS for Linux drivers, allowing mobile device owners to free up storage capacity on their devices by offloading content to an SDXC flash card or USB drive, which they can access later.
