Nutanix Expanding Relationship With Microsoft

Through Jointly engineered hybrid cloud solution

Nutanix, Inc. announced the expansion of its relationship with Microsoft Corp. through collaboration on a jointly-engineered integrated system designed to provide customers a hybrid cloud offering.

The offering brings together the Microsoft Cloud Platform System (CPS) Standard and Nutanix enterprise cloud platform to deliver a Microsoft Azure-consistent environment within an enterprise datacenter. The system is well suited for enterprise applications like SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, and Microsoft Dynamics, which require performance and availability.

The joint solution builds on Nutanix’s momentum in the enterprise applications space. Tier-1 enterprise applications have benefited from ongoing enhancements to the Nutanix platform – comprised of Nutanix Acropolis and Nutanix Prism – around performance, availability, efficiency, and management including end-to-end infrastructure insight.

Enterprise applications – comprising of critical business databases, messaging and collaboration tools, unified communications, and big data applications including those from Microsoft, Oracle, and Splunk – accounted for more than 50% of the workloads being (or anticipated to be) run by new Nutanix customers from Nutanix’s previous financial quarter ending April 30, 2016.

The extended Nutanix and Microsoft relationship opens up opportunities for our joint customers to deploy mission-critical enterprise applications on validated infrastructure.

Organizations looking to deploy Microsoft-based hybrid cloud solutions were previously required to bring together different pieces of Microsoft’s technology and complex datacenter infrastructure to build a solution on their own. This jointly-engineered solution gives customers standardizing on Microsoft technologies a path to the hybrid cloud, with features such as self-service deployment, backup, and DR, based on Nutanix’s platform with one-click management simplicity.

Fitness First needed an infrastructure solution that was simple to deploy and manage and could grow with the business. It was a challenge to support our previous complex infrastructure environment built up over the years,” said Jon Forster, consultant, global programme director, Fitness First. “We now rely on a hybrid cloud solution using Nutanix enterprise cloud platform, Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure for our core applications across Europe and Asia. It has made it simple to handle peak demand with ease without dealing with the challenges of manual operations or over-provisioned capacity.

Nutanix and Microsoft share a vision to simplify, and remove the guesswork, from, building and operating datacenter infrastructure for enterprises. We worked together to make that vision a reality with this solution,” said Jeffrey Snover, technical fellow and the lead architect for the enterprise cloud group, Microsoft. “This is a great first step together in the long journey to simplifying datacenters.

Hyper-convergence continues to increase in popularity and customers are looking for more opportunities to deploy all their applications on a single platform to eliminate the complexity of different infrastructure silos,” said Sunil Potti, chief product and development officer, Nutanix. “By expanding our relationship with Microsoft, Nutanix customers are able to leverage the enterprise applications and datacenter technologies from Microsoft with the peace of mind, simplicity and operational efficiency inherent in the Nutanix enterprise cloud platform.
