SGO’s Mistika has been dubbed ‘post-production studio-in-a-box’. Packed with a wealth of post-production tools to boost creativity, it also features a built-in RAID storage to ensure performance levels for handling 4K streams.

The Raidix solutions build on patented erasure coding methods and technology designed by the in-house research lab. Compatible with commodity-off-the-shelf server hardware, Raidix commits to resilient storage with throughput, performance and low latency.

Incorporated into Mistika, the Raidix Media technology ensures simultaneous processing of multi-thread sequential video from a plethora of post-production workstations. As part of its QoS strategy, the company employs machine learning to identify process-critical applications and assign them maximum priority over resource-hungry yet less relevant applications.

Balanced workloads, full support of the entire post-production cycle, and 99,9999 data availability make Mistika a choice for budget-savvy performance-driven content makers. By adding CentOS compatibility to the comprehensive solution, SGO and Raidix adopt the stability, security and load-balance updates available to the users of community enterprise OS.

Mistika’s market-tested features include timeline-based editing, color grading, image restoration, compositing and support for a host of media formats including Red, Arri Raw, Phantom, and Weisscam. Adding value to professional functionality, Raidix enables real-time content processing for demanding tasks like 4K DPX file grading.

The two teams of developers have designed a turnkey storage solution specifically optimized for the requirements of Mistika. For the first time, there is now a very robust high performance, cost-effective solution that has been created by removing superfluous hardware and concentrating the investment on the aspects that are really important for a post-production suite“, says Javier Moreno, CTO, SGO.

When we started the project, it seemed quite straightforward: take Raidix, install it as a RAID engine, tune performance through little tweaks, and there you go. However, as we went down the road and our developers worked closely with SGO team, we came up with a customized version of the software to meet all requirements of our partner. It is so exciting that now Raidix has become part of Mistika, the flagship product for video editing“, states Anna Belova, VP, business development, Raidix.

In the limelight of IBC 2016, the Mistika appliance powered by Raidix CentOS was unveiled and showcased live at the SGO and Canon booths. The solution revealed operation speeds and data integrity even under data loads and in emulated degradation mode.
