… Information Confirmed by Christie

For this software remarketing agreement

Cristie Software Ltd. has signed a software remarketing agreement with IBM Corp. to include two products – CloneManager and Recovery Simulator to the existing reseller relationship.

This extension to IBM’s relationship with Cristie will make both products available to IBM and its channel partners through IBM’s Passport Advantage (PPA) quoting and ordering system.

CloneManager is a machine mobility solution that creates exact copies of running machines in a different environment. It is used for replicating, syncing and moving OSs, applications and associated data between and within different physical, virtual and cloud environments. Users can optimize resource allocation, manage their server infrastructure, and utilise DR (DR) capabilities. CloneManager supports migration to and from many leading public cloud providers.

Recovery Simulator provides assurance that machines are recoverable from their backups and allows Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) users to automate and schedule full DR tests and report on the results. It is available in conjunction with Cristie Tivoli Bare Machine Recovery (TBMR)as well as a standalone solution for users of Tivoli Storage Manager for Virtual Environments (TSM for VE). The TSM for VE option provides a low cost mechanism for testing recovery to a VM that it creates within a protected TSM for VE managed environment.

According to Joseph King, VP of pre-sales consulting, IBM business partner, CAS Severn, Inc.Recovery Simulator is going to have a profound impact on the operations of our TSM customers at CAS Severn. Automating the recovery testing process is going to allow our healthcare customers to meet HIPAA recovery testing requirements while allowing their IT staff to spend time on innovation and not manual tasks.”

Recovery Simulator and CloneManager from Cristie Software can help our clients take another important step in the transition to cloud and service orientated environments,” said Ian Smith, director of storage software, IBM. “This is another example of IBM’s work to build an innovation ecosystem, by providing business partners with access to open technology which they can leverage to bring more value to the market.

IBM already re-sells CBMR, Cristie’s own bare machine recovery software as well as TBMR which recovers physical machines directly from TSM without having to perform separate backups. CBMR and TBMR recoveries can be automated and will typically restore server OSs and applications in less than 20 minutes.

Both products are available through PPA.
