… Including Dell PowerEdge Servers

For application acceleration

Avago Technologies Ltd announced that Dell, Inc. has selected Avago’s 12Gb SAS technology for use in its latest lineup of Dell PowerEdge RAID Controllers (PERC9) for their 13th generation PowerEdge servers.

The technology combination helps enable PowerEdge servers to deliver new levels of application acceleration, cost savings, and simplified and streamlined storage management.

Data centre, cloud and HPC environments not only require large amounts of storage capacity, they also must provide the data protection and performance applications and end users demand. The latest generation of PowerEdge servers using Avago 12Gb SAS with MegaRAID technology is Dell’s most advanced portfolio yet for customers grappling with the evolving spectrum of applications and workloads.

Avago 12Gb SAS solutions were designed to ease the demands of IT departments challenged with growing data traffic and storage consumption,” said Tom Swinford, SVP and GM, data centre solutions group, Avago. “Avago and Dell collaborated closely on integrating Avago 12Gb SAS technology into the latest generation of Dell PowerEdge RAID Controllers to ensure that Dell’s customers would have an effective solution to provide the performance and data protection required for enterprise IT applications.

Dell is pleased to introduce its 13th generation PowerEdge server portfolio which adds Avago 12Gb SAS technology and enables our customers to optimise their systems for the most data-intensive workloads,” said Ravi Pendekanti, VP of product marketing and management, Dell PowerEdge servers. “Being a customer focused organisation that designs solutions based on integrated customer feedback, Dell PowerEdge servers enable our customers to deploy systems that accelerate application performance, lower TCO, and ultimately meet the needs of today’s intensive IT workloads.

12Gb SAS technology features help enable PowerEdge RAID controllers to address storage requirements by delivering performance and RAID data protection, including the ability to:

  • Provide internal storage, external JBOD expansion and RAID data protection to address a wide range of storage performance and capacity requirements
  • Support critical, high-bandwidth applications with PCIe 3.0 connectivity
  • Balance protection and performance for critical applications with RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60
