Avago 12Gb SAS Storage Technology Powers 250 New Servers …

Avago Technologies Ltd announced its lineup of 12Gb SAS storage solutions has been chosen to power more than 250 new server models based on the Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family.

Server manufacturers have selected its 12Gb SAS and MegaRAID solutions to provide the technology demanded by next-generation server platforms that run data-intensive applications.

The Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 product family, featuring the Intel C610 series chipset, delivers reduced power consumption while at the same time providing increased performance. Avago 12Gb SAS technology doubles storage I/O bandwidth, unlocks the performance potential of the latest flash-based systems, and enables systems to take advantage of 12Gb/s speeds regardless of whether 6Gb or 12Gb SAS drives are deployed.
