Sony Assigned Two Patents

Storage element and memory device, optical disc drive with carrying roller

Storage element and memory device
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,945,730) developed by Ohmori, Hiroyuki, Kanagawa, Japan, Hosomi, Masanori, Tokyo, Japan, Bessho, Kazuhiro, Higo, Yutaka, Yamane, Kazutaka, Uchida, Hiroyuki, Kanagawa, Japan, and Asayama, Tetsuya, Tokyo, Japan, for a “storage element and memory device.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “A storage element including: a storage layer, a magnetization fixed layer, and an insulating layer, wherein by injecting spin-polarized electrons in a laminating direction of a layered structure that includes the storage layer, the insulating layer, and the magnetization fixed layer, the orientation of magnetization of the storage layer changes and recording of information is performed on the storage layer, and an Fe film and a film that includes Ni are formed in order from an interface side that is in contact with the insulating layer, and a graded composition distribution of Ni and Fe is formed after heating on at least one of the storage layer and the magnetization fixed layer.

The patent application was filed on December 5, 2011 (13/310,846).

Optical disk drive having carrying roller that contacts surface of optical disk
Sony Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, has been assigned a patent (8,949,869) developed by Yoguchi, Aki, Tokyo, Japan, for a “optical disk drive having a carrying roller that contacts a surface of an optical disk.

The abstract of the patent published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office states: “Provided is an optical disk drive including a carrying roller for carrying an optical disk in a first direction. The carrying roller includes a first roller portion and a second roller portion which are aligned in a second direction along the optical disk and orthogonal to the first direction and which are so disposed as to make contact with a surface on one side of the optical disk. An axis of the first roller portion is so inclined that a distance between the axis of the first roller portion and the one-side surface of the optical disk gradually increases toward a central portion of the carrying roller. An axis of the second roller portion is so inclined that a distance between the axis of the second roller portion and the one-side surface of the optical disk gradually increases toward the central portion.

The patent application was filed on July 1, 2014 (14/320,830).
