New Seagate Enterprise Storage Products

Seagate Technology plc announced several product updates.

The company also announced its new Cloud Systems and Solutions (CSS), which will deliver scalable, secure, efficient, and cost-effective cloud service architectures and solutions.

Seagate is the only company delivering HDDs, solid-state hybrid drives, SSDs, external storage solutions, recovery services, cloud services and integrated cloud systems and solutions.

Data growth today and predicted for the future is astounding. Research firm IDC estimates that the overall amount of data created, replicated, and consumed across the United States alone will hit 44ZB by 2020, whereas today that number is only 4.4ZB. With the massive build out of cloud services, mobile applications, open source computing, and social networks, the world is creating and relying on data like nevee before.

Seagate Cloud Systems and Solutions
Seagate’s CSS product update will include offerings in four areas: integrated HPC solutions, scalable, modular components and solutions, custom systems for OEMs and cloud backup/restore, DR and Rapid Archive Storage solutions. Seagate will drive the industry’s ability to manage hyperscale computing demands, improve energy efficiency, and enhance evrywhere availability of data.

The Seagate ClusterStor 9000 solution, available, is an integrated Lustre-based scale-out solution designed for HPC and big dat customers who need to reliably plan, eploy and sustain maximum optimal application performance. Delivering superior converged scale-out storage quality and performance efficiency, the solution delivers 50% higher performance than previous ClusterStor platforms.

The Seagate EVault Enterprise Backup and Recovery Appliance now accommodates up to 100TB of usable capacity. Seagate’s portfolio of backup and recovery appliances have been built from the ground up to both connect and replicate to the cloud. The architectural flexibility inherent to the Seagate appliances makes them for heterogeneous environments demanding up to a petabyte of storage and computing power.

PCIe Flash Accelerator Cards
The Nytro XP6302 card delivers high PCIe flash capacity with competitive performance characteristics in a half-height form factor. It is designed for density and for performance scaling for high thread count and queue depth workloads. The second expansion to the Nytro portfolio the XP6209 card adds a new 1.86TB capacity point doubling the capacity. The 1.86TB SKU addresses customers’ needs for increased capacity density in low-profile and thermally optimized hyper-converged designs.

Enterprise HDDs
Building on the broad Seagate portfolio of existing enterprise drives Seagate unveiled its eighth-generation enterprise HDD portfolio spanning from high performance-optimized storage with 15,000 and 10,000rpm drives to the capacity-optimized nearline drive – all in a 2.5-inch form factor. New drives introduced include the Seagate Enterprise Capacity HDD – the 2TB 2.5 enterprise nearline drive, Seagate Enterprise Performance 15,000rpm HDD with increased drive performance and double the capacity of the last generation, and the Seagate Enterprise Performance 10,000rpm HDD Capacity where both capacity and performance meet for maximum mission critical storage efficiency.

All mission critical drives feature Seagate’s TurboBoost enhanced caching technology establishing the benchmark as the world’s fastest HDDs. All enterprise drive families are integrated with SAS technology, offering scalable 12Gb/s throughput to and from the host.

The new drives offer enhanced storage capabilities like Seagate Secure self-encrypting drive technology, Instant Secure Erase functionality for easy drive retirement, PowerChoice on-demand power savings, RAID Rebuild for faster rebuilds – all to improve IT capabilities that allow IT managers to deploy and maintain efficient storage systems in the demanding environments and workloads throughout their lifecycle.
