Nine Acquisitions by j2 Global in 1Q15
Including cloud backup firms SugarSync and Dobson (USA), Omnis and Opin (Iceland), iDrift (Norway) and BackupSystems (Denmark)
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 13, 2015 at 2:46 pmj2 Global, Inc., provider of Internet services, announced that its cloud Services division closed nine acquisitions in the first quarter of 2015, spanning four business units and five countries.
The company acquired about 40 cloud backup companies in the past five years.
These new additions grow the company’s global customer base, provide access to new markets, and expand product lineup.
The acquisitions include:
- RTE (Fax, France)
- SpamSoap (Security, USA)
- EmailDirect (Marketing, USA)
- SugarSync (Backup, USA)
- Dobson (Backup, USA)
- Omnis (Backup, Iceland)
- Opin (Backup, Iceland)
- iDrift (Backup, Norway)
- BackupSystems (Backup, Denmark)
j2 also adds offices in Paris, France, and San Mateo, CA. The company’s footprint now includes 14 offices worldwide.

Terms of the individual acquisitions were not disclosed and the financial impact to j2 is not expected to be material.
