Revenue of WW Internal and External Storage Systems Market Up 3% Y/Y in 2Q16 – Dell’Oro Group

A report from Dell’Oro Group, a source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, revealed flash capacity shipments drove growth for the storage systems market in 2Q16, growing almost 90% Y/Y.

Vendors like Pure Storage and Nimble Storage benefitted from the growth.

“Both all-flash arrays and hybrid flash arrays drove flash capacity shipments of external storage systems. Vendors with high flash exposure benefitted. For example, Pure Storage product revenue grew 84% Y/Y and Nimble Storage product revenue grew 16% Y/Y,” said Chris DePuy, VP, Dell’Oro Group. “Besides flash trends, exposure to China also contributed to growth in the storage Systems market. Huawei’s revenues in the external systems market grew almost 60% Y/Y, well above the industry growth rate.“
