Zenfolio Selects Cleversafe

Cleversafe, Inc. announced that Zenfolio, Inc., an all-in-one solution for photographers to display, share and sell their work online, has selected its Dispersed Storage Network (dsNet) technology to store its growing online collection of photographs.

Previously, Zenfolio used a pay-as-you-use public cloud service. While the public cloud was a cost efficient storage option for Zenfolio in the beginning, it became increasingly expensive as Zenfolio began storing terabytes per month. dsNet object-based storage solution eliminates the need for costly data replication, which reduces capital and operating expenses. At the same time, the technology improves security and data availability, which is crucial to the photographers who rely on Zenfolio to upload photos and fulfill orders.

To keep Zenfolio’s online photograph collection safe and available, dsNet object-based storage solution uses a patented, geographically dispersed erasure coding algorithm that stores data as virtualized and encrypted ‘slices’ that are spread across multiple independent storage nodes in a cloud. This approach enhances the availability of Zenfolio’s data through toleration of multiple, simultaneous drive, node, site and/or network failures while maintaining continuous access to data.
