Sydney-Based Cloud Provider Hosted Network Selects SolidFire

For all-flash storage platform

SolidFire, Inc. announced that Sydney-based cloud provider Hosted Network Pty Ltd selected its scale-out all-flash storage platform to power its cost-effective, enterprise virtual cloud-based Desktop as a Service (DaaS) offering to customers in Australia and New Zealand.

Hosted Network chose SolidFire based on its scale-out architectural design, guaranteed QoS technology, and deep system automation.

The market opportunity for delivering DaaS services within the enterprise is growing exponentially. For enterprise customers, managed DaaS services eliminate large capital investments along with the challenges and complexity associated with desktop deployment, management and maintenance. In addition to centralizing and reducing administration cost, Hosted Network DaaS lowers desktop deployment times, enhances security and eliminates downtime – critical elements for enabling mobile workforce.

Hosted Network is the first in Australia to offer a white-label DaaS solution that empowers IT providers to deliver the performance, security and savings demanded by mobile businesses. By allowing partners to brand their own cloud desktop solution without having to store and manage the actual infrastructure and licensing, the company enables IT integrators, MSPs and software vendors to go to market with their own cloud desktop offering.

SolidFire is the backbone of our data center. It’s the only storage platform that can handle our dense workload consolidation and our staggering I/O requirements while still ensuring that every application gets the performance it needs, no matter what other demands are being placed on the platform,” said Hosted Network’s MD, Ben Town. “SolidFire enables us to deliver the latest DaaS infrastructure in the cloud with unmatched performance and reliability.

VMware is enabling today’s workforce to securely access data and applications from any device. VMware Horizon DaaS allows Hosted Network to simplify and automate the management of thousands of desktops and to securely deliver enterprise Desktop as a Service to thousands of users with unmatched levels of availability and reliability, while providing its partners with a simple to use interface for the provisionment and management of their hosted desktops,” said Asanga Wanigatunga, VMware, Inc.‘s director, DaaS, AsiaPac and Japan.

and VMware Horizon DaaS delivers:

  • Hosted desktops that offer the computing power of a physical desktop without the hassle and cost associated with its maintenance.
  • A simple, secure and centralized version of a typical desktop/laptop environment, accessed via the Internet.
  • Cloud-based platforms that are accessible anytime, anywhere, from any device.
  • Managed service and centralized administration of IT support, software updates and provisioning.
  • White-labeled DaaS offering that IT providers can quickly go to market with.

Hosted Network demands the ability to consolidate and automate the management of thousands of workloads while simultaneously delivering guaranteed levels of performance and capacity,” said SolidFire’s VP of product management, Adam Carter. “SolidFire is the only all-flash array designed to meet those needs, but also deliver a scale-out architecture that can respond to changes in workload demand and scale as Hosted Network’s business needs evolve.

Hosted Network provides the needed tools to boost partners’ profits, expand their service offerings and help them realize the cost effectiveness, improved security and compliance, mobility and flexibility of DaaS.
