StorTrends Hybrid and All-Flash Arrays Boost Performance of Customers

For virtual server environments

StorTrends, trademark of American Megatrends, Inc. announced details on how customers and partners across virtually every industry, including education, energy, finance, state and local government, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail, have benefitted from the increased application performance achieved using StorTrends hybrid and all-flash storage arrays in high-demand virtual environments.

Using StorTrends storage appliances, customers can achieve performance, reliability, scalability and cost savings – especially in Virtual Server deployments.

StorTrends, as hybrid and all-flash storage array provider, capitalize son this growth opportunity. With an history of delivering storage solutions that break price/performance barriers, it has optimized support for a range of virtual environments including VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Citrix Xen and Red Hat RHEV. The result is a suite of storage arrays that will achieve enterprise performance and reliability at an affordable price point.

Among the key’s to StorTrends’ success is the StorTrends iDATA Tool which identifies an environment’s actual storage needs and requirements before a customer makes a purchasing decision. Running in the background of an existing IT environment, the iDATA Tool will, after seven days, reports on key metrics including capacity utilization, IO/s usage, reads versus writes for volumes, network bandwidth performance, server statistics and application information. The result is an accurate picture of the storage requirements needed for optimum operation and to ensure organizations select what they need eliminating the need to overprovision costly resources.

The number one reason most storage installations fail is due to a lack of accurate information regarding the IT environment’s performance requirements,” said Justin Bagby, director, StorTrends. “With StorTrends iDATA we eliminate the guesswork so that customers can build their storage infrastructure with the insight and knowledge that fuels their success. The StorTrends iDATA tool determines how much active data a customer has within his or her environment. This allows us to spec the approximate amount of SSD or flash for the infrastructure to be successful. This, along with the high value of our StorTrends Hybrid and All-Flash Storage Arrays continues to deliver impressive performance results for our customers. Why guess at your storage configuration when you can run the free StorTrends iDATA tool and know?

Our guidance to end-users is clear – we advise that they should strongly consider hybrid- or all-flash arrays (HFA or AFA) when it comes time for a tech refresh to support business critical environments requiring high performance data capabilities. The HFA or AFA choice should be made after a careful review of internal business and IT requirements, as well as budget. And then, a vendor offering advanced enterprise capabilities together with competitive pricing, such as StorTrends, should be selected,” advised Deni Connor, founding analyst, storage and server strategies, SSG-NOW Labs.

Customers and Channel Partners Report Value
Customers and partners across multiple industries continue to underscore the value they receive using its family of storage solutions in their virtual environments.

Prevare, LLC, in outsourced IT and technical services, the value of StorTrends arrays has been proven in their customer implementations again and again.

As I researched potential SAN solutions, I kept coming back to StorTrends from AMI,” said Chris Haight, president, Prevare. “It had the ability to handle capacity needs, the required redundancy in their HA configuration, a very easy and intuitive GUI, certification with VWware and JBODs for future expansion. But what sealed the deal was the price – StorTrends was 25% less than a similar solution from another vendor.

At McLeod Addictive Disease Center, StorTrends helped to achieve reliable and efficient storage for the abundance of health records stored in the health center’s 30TB virtual server environment. McLeod uses its StorTrends array to run all of their VMs.

We originally chose StorTrends after an extensive review of the likely options – such as Dell, EMC and HP. We then met with the team and completed an exhaustive evaluation of the StorTrends’ array – the results blew us away,” said Paul Ogle, a member of the IT team, McLeod Addictive Disease Center. “In addition to StorTrends performing exactly as advertised, the knowledge and support we have received from the support team has far exceeded our expectations.

Charlotte Radiology also relies on ithes arrays to help the organization retain volumes of critical health data. It displaced a premiere t1 SAN vendor with StorTrends and has since seen improved performance and an enhanced feature set for a more affordable price.

I cannot stress enough how good the customer service is,” said Tony Maynard, manager of IT, Charlotte Radiology. “The StorTrends team has done nothing but accommodate our needs and bend over backwards for us. Everything has performed as they described and I have never had the feeling of being over- promised or under delivered.

National Fish & Seafood, Inc., a division of Pacific Andes, also entrusts the array to protect its Hyper-V environment.

When we sat down with our IT services partner to review options, it became clear that StorTrends was the right choice for our business,” said Andrew Marenghi, IT director, National Fish & Seafood. “The StorTrends array had the specific capabilities we were looking for, the integration with Hyper-V, and a price tag that was, well, much less than we anticipated. A true value.

University of Maryland, Department of Transportation Services (DOTS), selected StorTrends as the core of its implemented virtual infrastructure, supporting 17 VMware ESX virtual servers as well as two physical servers running several SQL databases, DOTS-specific shared drives and directories and a host of other demanding applications.

StorTrends had literally every single feature I was looking for: tiered storage, data deduplication and archiving, innovative data replication and WAN optimization – everything,” said Tim Robinson, DOTS IT coordinator and systems administrator, DOTS. “StorTrends was the perfect fit for my environment. StorTrends met every one of our requirements.
