ProphetStor Modernizes BC/DR Process for Sabah State Government of Malaysia

ProphetStor Data Services, Inc., in software-defined storage, announced that its DR Prophet solution has been implemented by the Sabah State Computer Services Department (SCSD) for the Sabah State Government of Malaysia.

DR Prophet brings cost-effective DR and BC to their key electronic Government application systems (SM2, E-leave, E-Pay, State Scholarship and Examination Systems) and enables the SCSD to keep operations running 24×7.

“Prior to DR Prophet, DR took more than 3 hours to restore operations. A critical goal for the SCSD is to improve recovery time to 30 minutes or less,” said Dr. Hj Mingu Hj Jumaan, director, SCSD. “We can do that now with DR Prophet. It allows us to successfully replicate data flexibly across data centres, even with limited bandwidth availability. After a solution review with input from Sri Komputer Sdn Bhd, a partner solution provider, SCSD found that DR Prophet was the solution to meet both performance and budget requirements. The DR operation changed from a manual, tape backup to a snapshot method, freeing up valuable IT resources to focus on handling other tasks.
