Input Media Upgrades MatrixStore Cluster From Object Matrix

In preparation for new EVS workflows

Object Matrix Ltd. announces that Input Media has upgraded its existing MatrixStore cluster in preparation for new EVS workflows.

Input Media

Input Media is one of Europe’s premier sports production companies with blue chip clients around the world. Many of those clients require fast turnaround workflows in high pressure environments. Input Media’s West London Production Centre combines multiple technology platforms to provide a flexible and scalable facility to meet their clients’ needs. Their experience with MatrixStore in file-based and Avid workflows proved comfort enough to commit to testing the platform with EVS.

We were very happy to test MatrixStore with EVS as we have current and future requirements to ingest, park and archive media assets for many of our clients. We were impressed not only by the results but also the commitment shown by the Object Matrix team to understand our needs.” stated Nick Symes, director of technology, Input Media. “It makes no practical, nor commercial sense to manage disparate silos of storage for different workflows, so we opted to consolidate and grow our existing MatrixStore cluster along with moving to 10GigE connectivity.

The expanded MatrixStore cluster, six 24 TB nodes providing 120TB,
will be used as a central nearline hub for other workflows:

  • Target storage for Aspera transfers
  • Transcode location using Telestream Vantage
  • AMA from Avid Media Composer using MXFS from Object Matrix
  • Managed EVS nearline storage

Future workflows are also planned with Avid Interplay and potential to add MatrixStore to Input Media’s Serviced Digital Archive model.

Nick Pearce, co-founder, Object Matrix, said: “Customers like Input Media rely heavily on the impressive infrastructure they have built in order to deliver maximum value and results to their clients. Adding EVS workflows to the Object Matrix toolset supports and enables them to build a centralised and future proof nearline storage hub for the entire business.

MatrixStore is an object based, nearline storage platform that scales to multiple petabytes. As well as providing file system access, it also provides additional business benefits via features including built in search, options for local and remote replication, multiple-tenancy, WORM options and built in audit.
