Deluxe Media Europe Turns to Quantum StorNext …

Quantum Corp. announced that London-based Deluxe Media Europe has deployed an integrated Quantum StorNext storage solution and StorNext AEL6000 tape archive for storing and managing over five 5PB of media content.

The solution enables access and preservation of the growing library of media assets Deluxe Media holds for its range of media and broadcast clients. The new installation offers the flexibility, cost efficiency and control to service broadcasters and other content owners’ increasing requirements for VOD and for monetising content.

Deluxe Media is using tiered storage managed via StorNext to write a high level of content daily – around 4TB – onto a Scalar AEL6000 archive. The new deployment will enable Deluxe Media to prepare feature films and broadcast media for delivery as file packages to third-party broadcasters and VOD platforms.

To handle this file-based workflow, Deluxe Media leverages DL3, its global digital media asset management system, which integrates with StorNext to drive its workflow and archive capabilities. All the details about the content and the data itself can be accessed and retrieved for any asset stored in London by any of the Deluxe Media facilities on DL3 around the world – and vice versa.

“We have a lot of film clients and a lot of broadcast clients, so we have around four or five petabytes of archive storage at our London facility alone,” said Dick Grun, senior systems engineer, Deluxe Media Europe. “It’s clearly impractical to store it on disk, but with Quantum StorNext on the back end, it’s actually pretty easy to parcel the content off into what seems to be an infinite store.“
