IBM SAN Volume Controller and Storwize Family delivers expanded connectivity and enhanced security with encryption.

IBM Storwize family of products delivers following enhancements:

  • 16Gb FC 4 port adapter for expanded connectivity on IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) and Storwize V7000
  • Support of up to four 4-port 8Gb FC Card features for expanded connectivity on SVC
  • Encryption of externally virtualized and internal storage data at rest for enhanced security on SVC
  • Encryption of externally virtualized storage data at rest for enhanced security on Storwize V7000

Key prerequisites: All features and enhancements in this announcement require IBM Spectrum Virtualize V7.6, or later.

Planned availability date:

December 4, 2015:

  • 4GB to 8GB Cache Upgrade

December 18, 2015:

  • Encryption Enablement (feature number ACE2)
  • Encryption USB Drive Pack (feature number ACEB)
  • 4 port 16Gb FC Card (feature number AH14)
  • 16Gb FC 4 Port Adapter Pair (feature number AHB3)

The SVC Encryption Enablement feature and the Encryption USB Drive Pack feature (machine type 2145 feature numbers ACE2 and ACEB, respectively) are not available in the following countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, People’s Republic of China, and Russia.
