Unitrends Boomerang Test Drive in Collaboration With Amazon Web Services

Gives VMware administrators free opportunity to evaluate integrated solution for VM migration, cloud-based DR and cloudbursting.

Unitrends, Inc. announced a Test Drive for company’s Boomerang on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The AWS Test Drive provides a private IT sandbox environment that allows IT administrators with enough free AWS datacenter time to learn about and investigate popular third-party solutions. Boomerang is a easy-to-use and cost-effective virtual appliance for replicating Vmware, Inc.‘s VMs to the AWS cloud for low-cost backup and DR. Boomerang also automatically remodels replicated VMs to native Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) for fast execution, providing an ideal solution for migrating on-premise systems to the AWS cloud and for DR as a Service (DRaaS).

AWS Test Drive helps users to rapidly deploy and evaluate enterprise solutions created by AWS Partner Network (APN) Consulting and Technology Partners.

Boomerang Test Drive on AWS includes license pre-integrated with AWS, enabling users to:

  • Replicate up to two VMware VMs in Amazon S3 for low-cost backup and storage;

  • Remodel these VMs on command as native AMIs in Amazon Elastic Compute cloud (Amazon EC2) for DRaaS or VM migration to the cloud; and

  • Access Boomerang online resources and community forums for support, peer interactions and guidance.
