Cloud Sync helps companies securely adopt a hybrid cloud strategy in an effort to get the most out of their stored data. Based on defined policies managed privately, data is automatically delivered to where it can best be utilized, within private data centers or in the cloud.

AWS is a strategic platform for Pac-12 Networks, enabling us to take advantage of cloud storage for offsite business continuity, as well for delivery of content to our OTT partners,” said Michael Harabin, VP, technology, engineering and media management, Pac-12 Networks. “Our data-intensive workloads will always benefit from on-premises storage like SwiftStack, where policy-based management of data in our architecture enables us to produce and better deliver our content to our fans.

Unlike most cloud gateways, built-in company’s Cloud Sync works to replicate native objects to a bucket in the cloud and does not store them in a proprietary archive. This means that applications can access and operate on the data, enabling CDN, active archive, and collaboration solutions while also assisting with cloud bursting and further archiving to Amazon Glacier. Cloud Sync supports the freedom to choose either AWS storage or Google Cloud Storage in hybrid solutions. Policy management for hybrid cloud goes beyond basic API compatibility, placing data in hybrid cloud topologies within a single namespace.

Our customers use the Amazon S3 API to access SwiftStack storage on-premises, and feel their data center is comprised of storage that is both behind their firewall and in the public cloud,” said Don Jaworski, CEO, SwiftStack. “Syncing to the cloud is an active solution, giving applications the freedom to take advantage of AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage today while IT uses policies to centrally manage corporate data.

In 2017, the company will be expanding the capabilities of Cloud Sync to support additional public cloud platforms and expand data management for hybrid cloud applications. Additional automation and interaction between private and public clouds will be continuous in every release of SwiftStack.
