Riverbed SteelStore Application for AWS

Riverbed Technology, Inc. announced a cloud-based version of its SteelStore for Amazon Web Services – a cloud backup and recovery solution that protects workloads running in AWS by backing them up in secondary cloud locations.

As data continues to grow and the costs of backing it up with customary methods consume more time and budget, traditional DR strategies are no longer cost-effective or realistic. Cloud storage provides a better approach for storing the ever-increasing amounts of data that companies manage due either to business needs or regulation. This allows companies that already use AWS for cloud-based storage to also recover those workloads from secondary cloud locations, reducing time, cost and data volumes by up to 90%. It also helps companies protect cloud-based workloads, creating cloud-to-cloud storage resiliency for enterprises.

Recover On-Premises Workloads in the Cloud
SteelStore for AWS allows organizations without a secondary DR location or organizations looking for extra protection to utilize the cloud for DR and BC. By using the physical or virtual appliances on-premises, data is protected in the cloud. If the primary site is unavailable, organizations can spin up SteelStore and recover data to Amazon EC2.

Protect Cloud-Based Workloads
With data resiliency becoming challenging in the hybrid enterprise, protecting workloads in the cloud is as critical as when they are run on-premises. When organizations already have production workloads running in Amazon EC2, SteelStore for AWS offers an efficient and secure approach to backing up cloud-hosted workloads by working with existing backup software. This solution deduplicates, encrypts, and migrates data to Amazon S3 or Amazon Glacier, creating cloud-to-cloud resiliency, which is the next level in BC.

Riverbed SteelStore and Application Performance Platform
SteelStore is a solution for cloud backup and recovery. It is a cloud-integrated storage that enables customers to store data in the cloud at up to 90% less than traditional methods.
