During the past few years, we’ve all seen requirements for storage increase at sometimes an exponential rate,” says Ian McClarty, president, phoenixNAP. “Today’s businesses require more space for data than ever before, but more importantly, they require a quick and easy way to access and stockpile some pretty large individual files. From the rise of video content and rich media files to just having more data that needs to be stored, the reality is legacy forms of storage can no longer accommodate the demands.

OSS is launching with support for objects up to 5TB in size, and includes compatible APIs to connect with other popular platforms including Amazon S3. The data replication feature between data centers can provide increased object availability and add protection against any region-specific events. Additionally, firm’s OSS offers object versioning at the per object or per bucket/folder level for increased flexibility and scalability.

In designing this service, it was important to consider the varying requirements businesses have regarding bulk file storage, transfers of said files, and desired storage locations,” adds William Bell, VP, products, phoenixNAP. “Our new OSS offering is not only built to quickly and easily scale, the pricing structures are budget friendly. Storage and transfer costs are lower than Amazon, Google, or even Microsoft Azure, and in some cases, zero. For instance, any request in to OSS carries no cost, and data transfers in and out are free up to the first 5TB per month. Not to mention we are making it available in three locations at launch.

OSS is available out of data centers in Phoenix, AZ, Ashburn, VA, and the Netherlands.
