High-Rely to Add BackBlaze B2 to Cloud Replication Offerings

On NetSwap and RAIDFrame NAS products.

Highly Reliable Systems, Inc. (High-Rely) announces that next NetSwap Firmware release, 2.15, will include the addition of BackBlaze B2 Cloud Storage offering as a replication destination.

Backblaze will join the already supported S3 services like Amazon S3 Bucket, Google Cloud Storage, Dreamhost DreamObjects Bucket and other S3s.

However, while Backblaze B2 is a service similar to S3 compatibles, it is not S3 and thus get’s it’s own button on the NetSwap interface.

High-Rely specifically sought to add B2 because, as Derry Bryson, senior software engineer, High-Rely said: “Although the Backblaze B2 service is similar to Amazon’s S3 (they are both file/object stores), B2 is (up to 6 times) cheaper at only $0.005 per GB/month versus Standard S3 at $0.03 per GB/month or even Standard – Infrequent Access Storage S3 at $0.0125 per GB/month.”

Gleb Budman, a founder and CEO, Backblaze made the announcement of B2 in September of 2015.

Thomas Hoops, CTO, High-Rely, said: “When Derry made the case for B2 I was quite excited. We’ve always appreciated Backblaze’s spirit and ethics from their early days. Their ability to build low cost aggregated storage and make it reliable and available is tops in the industry. We look forward to integrating with Backblaze even more in the future and are very excited to be offering their new service in NetSwap V2.15  We hope to release NetSwap version 2.15 sometime in February 2016.
