Free CloudBerry Explorer Supports Google Nearline

Attractive alternative to Glacier

CloudBerry Lab, Inc., a vendor of backup and management solutions for public cloud storage services, announced that its cloud backup and cloud storage management products support Google Nearline, a low-cost, fast performance cold storage solution that competes with Amazon Glacier.

CloudBerry Explorer Supports Google Nearline

Nearline offers an attractive alternative to Glacier’s low cost/slower data retrieval model, and, with this announcement, CloudBerry becomes the first cloud backup solution provider to support the offering.

With Google Nearline, customers can backup data at a low cost and restore it much more quickly than previously possible. Nearline’s pricing is a penny per gigabyte for data at rest, data can be retrieved at any time with a response of about threes, and Nearline is integrated with other Google Coud Storage services.

On the management side, the CloudBerry Explorer freeware file manager enables users to upload their data to Nearline and then manage all file data from there. With CloudBerry Explorer, customers can securely transfer data to Nearline and download it when needed, while saving money.

CloudBerry Backup provides SMBs with a solution to backup and recover data using the cloud. In addition to offering real-time and/or scheduled regular backups for simple backups, local disk image, or bare metal restore, the solution employs block level backup for efficiency and provides alerting features to track each backup and restore plan remotely. Data is protected via 256-bit AES encryption with keys controlled only by the customer, while confidentiality is enforced through transparent exchange whereby only the end-user has access to the actual data residing on Nearline.

For VARs and resellers, CloudBerry provides a managed platform enabling them to start selling backup services to their customers, increasing revenue and expanding their core suite of service offerings.

CloudBerry is the first company to release a free file upload tool for Nearline, and it offers a great new option for our customers: a very attractive price that also provides fast response time, allowing them to retrieve data ins, not hours or days,” said Alexey Serkov, CTO, CloudBerry. “Of course, CloudBerry supports more than 20 cloud storage providers, so our customers can always choose the one that best serves their needs.
