Corporate Backup Opens Cloud Storage in Melbourne, Australia…

Hosted inside NextDC's M1 facility

Corporate Backup has continued their expansion as a cloud backup wholesaler to the IT sector with storage hosted inside NextDC Ltd‘s M1 facility.

Melbourne

The storage enables resellers on the company’s Probax platform to choose between Perth, Melbourne or both sites for offsite storage of backups.

The platform has been winning accolades from IT companies since its release last November. It is the brainchild of Corporate Backup technical director Kevin Allan. “The feedback from our reseller channel was that IT companies needed a single point of management for the range of backup types they were deploying. In the case of Australian IT business, the two most obvious players are ShadowProtect and Veeam. We’ve designed Probax to handle the offsite storage, monitoring and recovery of these types of data as well as being compatible with FTP connections between the major NAS brands.

Our presence in Melbourne marks a big step forward for us in terms of uptime and recoverability” said Kyle Walter, head of business development.

During a trip to Melbourne, Kyle noted that the demand for large volumes of cloud storage were increasing. “Five years ago, selling a single terabyte of storage to one business was a pretty rare transaction. Most of the companies that met with us during our Melbourne road show were interested in 10TB or more

Another milestone was reached recently when a deal was brokered between the company and New Lease, the Australian Veeam distributor.

This is part of our mission to take the sting out of buying licences for major backup brands” says Allan. “We’ve already made access to monthly ShadowProtect licences incredibly fast and simple through the Probax Portal, Veeam was the next logical step for us.

Looking forward, the business have a small number of top-tier, hardware-based storage solutions pegged for integration into Probax.

Customers who have already invested a quarter-million dollars in onsite storage are quickly realising the potential of services like ours,” said Walter. “We want to make sure that our resellers have the very best backup and replication tools at their disposal, no matter the size or complexity of the environment.
