Two-factor authentication access and simplified SSO data security

Two-factor authentication access-challenge and simplified Single Sign-On (SSO)
strengthen data security

Code42’s two-factor authentication access-challenge for logins increases the level of security required to access sensitive corporate data managed by CrashPlan and SharePlan. By requiring a combination of two types of identification-for example, a known password and a security code received on a separate device-Code42 reliably authenticates users’ identities.

Our ability to combine the highest levels of endpoint data security, scalability and end-user productivity is why we’re trusted by the world’s largest companies,” said Mitch Coopet, co-founder and head of product, Code42. “Single sign-on support for multiple identity providers-including Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services-and advanced two-factor authentication demonstrate our commitment to enterprise IT teams tasked with balancing security with employee productivity.

The company strengthened the security and simplicity of the login process with SSO across the Code42 Edge Platform. Single-sign on provides an increased level of security for the enterprise by limiting the number of ways credentials can be compromised; snce CrashPlan and SharePlan users sign in using just one shared set of enterprise login credentials, they save time and avoid the frustration of memorizing and entering multiple passwords for different applications. In addition, IT spends less time supporting lost usernames and passwords.

Single Point of Integration with Multiple Identity Management Technologies
Traditionally, enterprises leveraging several identity management solutions were required to build custom API integrations to connect those solutions with their data protection technologies. Code42’s broadened support for SAML 2.0 – a common standard that facilitates these integrations-enables IT organizations using multiple identity providers to easily integrate these solutions with the Edge Platform. This single point of integration makes it easier for CrashPlan and SharePlan customers to use the Code42 platform alongside identity management providers such as Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Centrify, Okta and Ping Identity. With this added feature, working with multiple identity providers within the platform is a simple configuration activity in the  administration console.

Partnering with Code42 supports our mission to find innovative ways to connect people to their applications from any device, anywhere, anytime,” said Chuck Fontana, VP alliances and corporate development, Okta, Inc. “Code42 shares our commitment to enabling employees to access the tools they need to get their work done in the most secure, efficient manner possible.

As more companies adopt more cloud and mobile technologies, creating a seamless login experience while also maintaining end-to-end IT control is critical to empowering employees to work more productively and efficiently,” said Chuck Fontana, VP of corporate and business development, Okta. “Code42 shares our commitment to empowering people to access the tools they need to get their work done anytime, anywhere and on any device.
