At CloudBerry Lab, we are constantly striving to give our customers greater options for cloud-based DR, backup and storage,” says Alexander Negrash, director, marketing, CloudBerry Lab. “We believe our new Restore to Azure VMs feature will be particularly welcomed by customers. The ability to backup Windows Server system images to Azure storage has been available for some time, but now customers can actually deploy server images from the backup copy, directly on Azure VMs. This is a highly cost-effective and reliable DR option for SMBs who may not have the resources for redundant data centers.

Company’s Backup is a cross-platform solution built for cloud backup and storage, supporting Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Storage and OpenStack Swift. The features being announced are available across all editions of the firm’s Backup line, and include:

  • Restore to Azure VMs. In the event of a planned or unplanned IT operations interruption, this feature lets users save Windows Server snapshots on Azure, and then deploy them as a cloud-based Azure VM. Failover processes are rapid and can be managed remotely, helping users maintain extremely low recovery point- and recovery-time objectives even in instances when IT administrators may be dispersed.

  • Backup to Azure with BLOB size larger than 200GB. To date, Microsoft Azure Cloud Storage has had a size restriction for BLOB (Binary Large Object) data, making it impossible to run large backups to Azure from company’s Backup. This feature now overcomes this limitation, by automatically dividing large data sets into smaller fragments during the backup process.

  • Support of Azure in Germany. Firm’s Backup Version 4.9 supports storage on Azure servers in Germany. This feature is geared towards businesses based in Germany, as well as businesses with Germany operations. Storing data locally can help these companies achieve faster response and retrieval times for ‘hot’ or ‘active’ data.
