Cloud Available in Australia From Barracuda

Barracuda Networks, Inc., a provider of cloud-connected security and storage solutions, announced that its local Australian cloud storage for Barracuda Backup customers is live.

Based in Sydney, the new data centre will support Barracuda customers Australia-wide using Barracuda Backup’s secure, scalable and redundant cloud-enabled solution.

Barracuda Backup is an end-to-end business backup solution for mixed physical and virtual server environments. Barracuda Backup is simple to deploy and manage, and brings powerful and affordable backup and recovery to organisations in Australia.

“Being able to offer our local Australia customers the security, performance and a nationally consistent experience is increasingly important as those customers continue to migrate to the cloud and want their critical backup data hosted primarily in country,” said Jeff Hurmuses, VP of AsiaPac, Barracuda.

The Sydney data centre also will support Barracuda’s Cloud LiveBoot for VMware which enables a VM to be booted directly in the Barracuda cloud from de-duplicated backup storage. Cloud LiveBoot helps reduce overall downtime and latency, as well as provides customers with a platform for testing and sandboxing their servers to validate software upgrades or changes.

“Our award-winning Cloud LiveBoot is available to customers replicating to the Sydney data centre and who have purchased our Instant Replacement subscription which offers additional benefits for customers, like the option to pre-load data from the data centre on a replacement unit if they have experienced local problems,” continued Hurmuses.

Barracuda also plans to expand its sales and marketing opportunities to public and private sector organisations that prefer in-region facilities for primary cloud storage.
