Backup Vx uses both inline target-based deduplication and compression to reduce storage and bandwidth requirements, and scale storage as data grows, eliminating the need for forklift upgrades. The company demonstrated its data protection technology, and products that compliment VMware, Inc.’s  vCloud Air at VMworld 2015.

Barracuda Backup Vx further expands the flexibility and virtualization support we’re able to offer our customers, especially those who are moving away from physical infrastructure,” explains Rod Mathews, GM, storage, Barracuda. “Part of providing complete data protection means that we need to offer customers the option to deploy our products in a way that makes the most sense for their environments – whether that’s in the form of a physical appliance, a cloud solution, or a virtual appliance.

Backup Vx includes two options for offsite replication: customers can choose to replicate to the Barracuda Cloud, or customers can replicate to a Backup Receiver Vx hosted on their own infrastructure. For more information or to try Backup Vx.

Backup Vx is in early availability, with expected availability in October, starting at list price $2,250 per terabyte of protected data. International pricing and availability vary by region.
