Revenue of Cohesity Increases 100% Each Quarter

Workforce tripling, 60 customers, 60PB installed

Cohesity, Inc., in hyperconverged secondary storage, announced growth in the year following its public launch, with revenue increases of more than 100% each quarter and a workforce that has tripled in size.

Its Data Platform has garnered acclaim from customers and industry analysts as the first solution to consolidate all secondary storage use cases, including backup, file services, test/dev, and analytics, onto an intelligent, unified platform with infinite scalability.

Marquee brands including Brown & Brown Insurance, Ultimate Software, Genex Services, Tribune Media, Credit Acceptance, Cvent, GS1 Canada, and the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania have leveraged the Data Platform to simplify operations and reduce costs for secondary storage.

80% of its installations serve enterprise companies with more than 1,000 employees, and the company has achieved a 100% customer retention rate.

Many of its customers, such as Tribune Media, GS1, and Credit Acceptance, have expanded their deployments within the first year to realize greater efficiency and savings.

Cohesity has achieved more than 60 site installations to date, representing greater than 10PB of protected storage capacity.

We’re extremely pleased by the rapid adoption of Cohesity products,” said Cohesity COO Riccardo Di Blasio. “Within two quarters of shipping our first GA systems, we have 50 new incremental installations, with two-thirds of our bookings from large enterprise companies with greater than $1 billion in annual revenues. Customers appreciate the simplicity and enduring value we bring to their data centers. In fact, more than one third of our customers have made repeat purchases, as they consolidate more of their secondary storage onto Cohesity’s data platform.”

Over the past year, industry experts have validated Cohesity’s approach to storage and management with awards and certifications. Cohesity was named a TiE50 Top start-up by the premier Silicon Valley-based network for global entrepreneurs, and the Enterprise Strategy Group validated the linear scalability of the Cohesity Data Platform in 32-node cluster lab tests. Cohesity was also recognized as a 2016 Top Workplace by the Bay Area News Group.

Cohesity has forged relationships with a growing number of channel partners as part of the company’s Revolution Partner Network. Most recently, it has announced partnerships with Trace3, Kovarus, IMPEX, Denali Advanced Integration, World Wide Technology, Datalink and SHI to add to a list of over 50 channel partners in North America. Cohesity has also expanded globally, partnering with Ethos Technology and DataSolutions, to serve customers in the Northern EMEA region.

On the technology front, Cohesity has doubled down on partnerships with storage providers. In March 2016, Cohesity announced that it is helping customers deploy all-flash arrays from Pure Storage for mission-critical operations alongside Cohesity’s hyperconverged data platform to manage the other 80% of data typically held in secondary storage. Building on its hybrid cloud strategy, Cohesity also unveiled new cloud storage capabilities through a set of pre-built integrations with Amazon S3 and Glacier, Google Nearline, and Microsoft Azure.

To reliably deliver insurance products and services to our large network of independent agents requires a robust data protection and rapid restore capability within our IT operations. Cohesity delivers improved RTOs for restoring business critical VMs, while simplifying our backup operations with its fully integrated, policy-based data protection solution,” said Karen Bailey, Transformational CIO/CTO, Brown & Brown Insurance.

As a leading provider of medical case management and cost-containment services, Genex Services relies on world-class IT infrastructure to service customers 24×7. Cohesity’s intelligent data platform brings a new level of efficiency to our secondary storage, allowing us to simplify our backup information, including images, and rapidly provision dev/test systems. We appreciate the cost effectiveness of Cohesity’s products which allows us to consolidate our VM and database backups and dev/test instances into a single, protected, web-scale system that automatically deduplicates, compresses, and encrypts our data,” said David Dietz, IT manager, Genex Services, LLC.

The Cohesity system complements our industry-leading All Flash products with its scale-out distributed system for secondary storage workloads. We power mission-critical apps and high-performance file system workloads, while Cohesity delivers a scale-out secondary storage offering for backups, archive, and object storage that extends across private data centers and into public clouds. Together we can provide our joint customers with industry-leading data center storage solutions,” said  Matt Kixmoeller, VP of products, Pure Storage, Inc.

VMware Virtual SAN and our Hyper-Converged Software stack, with more than 3,500 customers, provide a higher-performance, more cost-effective and simpler platform for the Software-Defined Datacenter. While VMware Virtual SAN solves the primary storage use case, many of our customers are looking for a better way to manage their secondary data for backups and test/dev. Cohesity is a great complement to Virtual SAN by bringing the simplicity and efficiency of hyperconvergence to secondary data in SDDC environments,” said  Skip Bacon, VP of products, storage and availability, VMware, Inc.
