Tandberg Data announced the availability of its StorageLoader LTO with fourth generation LTO Half Height tape drives (LTO-4 HH).  The StorageLoader LTO is the ideal entry-level automated backup solution, offering exceptional storage performance and capacities in a compact 1U form factor.
 
The StorageLoader LTO is available with a choice of LTO-1, LTO-2, LTO-3 and LTO-4 Half-Height drives offering compressed storage capacities up to 12.8TB, transfer rates up to 576GB/hr and is available with LVD SCSI or SAS connectivity.
 
The introduction of LTO-4 HH within the StorageLoader LTO doubles the storage capacity and the increased performance reduces backup and restore times. The introduction of LTO-4 HH also offers customers hardware encryption, using the 256 bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). This offers users the highest level of encryption capability ensuring data privacy and regulatory compliance.
 
The LTO WORM (Write Once, Read Many) functionality will help users to meet further regulatory compliance requirements. Government regulations such as SEC and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act have established guidelines on how long data be retained, kept secure and remain unaltered. LTO WORM functionality will offer users cost effective, long term archiving, allowing them to store unaltered data for decades.

About the StorageLoader LTO
The StorageLoader LTO is designed for maximum performance and reliability, delivering the lowest storage costs of any 1U tape automation product. The tape drive, power supply and fans are all field replaceable, without having to remove the autoloader from the rack.
 
The StorageLoader’s metal construction provides an extremely robust and rugged solution for long-term operation. Its multi-lingual web-based remote management will allow for easy system monitoring. The StorageLoader has a unique cartridge load design with two 4-slot removable magazines, which may be ejected by using the front panel interface. Convenient barcode labelling of the eight data cartridges within the two magazines provides quick, convenient and accurate off-site storage. To facilitate disaster recovery plans, bulk loading and off-site storage are easily handled for increased security and convenience.
 
LTO-4 Half Height
The new LTO-4 half height tape drive provides a native capacity of 800GB (1.6TB compressed) and native transfer speeds of 80MB per second (160MB/sec compressed). High capacity drives reduce storage costs by requiring fewer data cartridges to complete backups. The increased capacity and speed shortens the time needed for backup and restore processes – a key benefit for companies with increasing data storage requirements and shrinking backup windows. The LTO-4 HH drive is available with either LVD SCSI or 3Gb/sec SAS interfaces, making it ideal for small and medium businesses and departmental users.
 
The LTO-4 HH Tape Drive is fully read and write compatible with all third-generation Ultrium media and backward-read compatibility with second-generation Ultrium media.

The StorageLoader LTO-4 HH is available immediately through Tandberg Data’s network of distributors and resellers. Estimated street price for the StorageLoader LTO-4 HH is $4,499. The StorageLoader LTO is protected by a standard 3-year warranty that includes a three year Advanced Replacement Service (on components only). Extensions of the warranty and on site services are available as an option.
