Imation Partners With RFID Global Solution Partner

Imation Corp. has partnered with RFID Global Solution, Inc. (RFIDGS) to offer an asset tracking solution providing real-time location and security management for IT assets. Imation’s DataGuard rf solution used for tracking data tapes by IT organizations will be complemented by RFID Global’s Visi-Trac application, an IT-asset tracking software, enabling users to deploy a single Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)–based security system to secure and track all of their IT assets, including data storage tape.

With patent-pending RFID Volume and Serial number (Vol-Ser) Labels, Imation’s DataGuard rf solution combines proven technology into one robust and secure label that incorporates RFID technology, Vol-Ser number identification, and advanced ultra-high-frequency (UHF) support with an open system that works with any tape management platform. Now compatible with the RFID Global Visi-Trac software, the DataGuard rf system is part of a full security solution.

This enhancement to Imation’s DataGuard rf solution in partnership with RFID Global is the latest effort by Imation to focus on key security issues faced by IT organizations and complements Imation’s recently announced Defender Collection of removable data storage products designed to protect and secure data at rest. The DataGuard rf Tape Tracking System builds on Imation’s existing offerings such as DataGuard Transportation and Storage Cases, SecureScan for LTO tape cartridges and DataGuard GPS (available in Europe currently) – to help companies physically secure and protect their digital information.
