Sans Digital 1U EliteSTOR ES104X+(B) ($449)

Sans Digital is introducing a new addition to the EliteSTOR rackmount storage line, the ES104X+(B). Designed to simplify the storage expansion process, the EliteSTOR ES104X+(B) utilizes a single mini-SAS (SFF-8088) connector, providing up to 8TB of storage by using SAS or SATA hard drives. When paired with a RAID controller, the 1U 4-bay compact ES104X+(B) is capable of reaching over 400MB/s in performance.


 
The ES104X+(B) is a compact rackmount designed for daily data archiving and backup, and non-linear editing for creative professionals. Utilize the latest mini-SAS connector, the ES104X+(B) provides up to 1200MB/s in bandwidth performance by using only a single cable, eliminating multiple points of failures cause by multiple connectors. Each hard drive directly connects to a hot-swappable SAS / SATA backplane that supports both high performance SAS hard drives and cost-effective SATA hard drives. RAID controllers and host bus adapters, such as ones by Areca, ATTO, Dell, Highpoint, HP, Intel and LSI, could be used in combination with the ES104X+(B) to provide RAID features. The hard drives are directly connected to the backplane, and then to the RAID controller via a 1200MB/s bandwidth mini-SAS cable, maximum performance is guaranteed for the storage system.
 
Each unit is design with a fan-failure LED and alarm along with a mute button. Individual power and status LED indicators are also available for each hard drive bay. The built-in rackmount brackets allow the ES104X+(B) to be securely mounted on a standard rackmount cabinet without the need for additional accessories. Four built-in high-speed cooling fans ensure each of the hard drives receives proper cooling in heavy workload environment.

Power is provided by an environmental friendly 150W 80PLUS power supply to maximize energy cost savings. The ES104T+(B) retails at $449.
