Disaster Recovery Solution for FC SAN by RELDATA
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Tue, May 20th, 2008
To replicate FC to remote IP SAN
“Fibre Channel SAN customers finally have a cost-effective way to replicate their data to a remote site for disaster recovery and business continuity,” said Dave Hubbard, CEO, RELDATA. “Duplicating a FC SAN for disaster recovery, particularly at a remote site, is complex, costly and requires additional IT resources. RELDATA delivers a cost-effective solution that can be easily implemented and centrally managed without disrupting the customer’s production environment.”
A FC SAN disaster recovery solution can be achieved by simply adding a RELDATA 9240 Unified Storage Gateway for either local or WAN replication. The gateway has a RELDATA Fibre Channel target that easily connects to a FC SAN without disrupting a customer’s production environment. At the remote site the customer implements a RELDATA 9240 Unified Storage System with economical SATA disk. The remote site can then be easily monitored and managed from the customer’s primary site. There is no software to install on production servers, no Fibre Channel rewiring required and replication is transparent to the application OS.
“Many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have invested in Fibre Channel SANs for disaster recovery -- not because they were the 'best' fit for their environments but because they really were the only option they had," said Heidi Biggar, analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “As the iSCSI market has matured, SMEs have been given new options that are priced, sized and packaged for their specific needs. Products such as RELDATA's allow SMEs to leverage cost-effective, familiar and feature-appropriate IP technology for DR, and as a bonus it gives them the opportunity to transform their FC SAN into a unified IP storage solution for their entire enterprise."
“We have been selling Fibre Channel SAN solutions for years, so we’re excited about finally having a cost-effective disaster recovery solution for our installed base of FC SAN customers,” said Daryl Beeson, Vice President Sales, Abtech Systems. “Real solutions like this, with an industry-leading iSCSI platform, made it an easy decision for us to become a certified reseller of RELDATA this year.”
