Mibtree Debuts SAN Aware

Mibtree, a network, systems and applications service assurance specialist, launches SAN Aware, a solution that simplifies the identification of SAN usage, enabling businesses to understand their storage investment, increase efficiency and drive cost savings.

The storage discovery and reporting technology automatically creates a detailed analysis of a company's SAN estate and usage status. The reports are tailored to specific customer needs, offering an in-depth view of SAN deployment, capacity utilisation and usage metrics. This analysis has the potential to improve the cost efficiency of a SAN investment and provides companies with a awareness of their storage status. Using the information generated by SAN Aware, companies can make accurate, cost-aware business decisions such as storage reclamation, decommissioning and buy back.

Unlike traditional frame to host discovery, SAN Aware discovers from host to frame, providing an accurate analysis of a storage estate. This vendor agnostic, multi-platform technology currently runs as a plug-in to BMC's ADDM, with a standalone version as optional. For enterprises with a large SAN investment, such as banks, telcos and utilities, SAN Aware supports multi-tiered storage and the operator does not need privileged access or to be proficient in ADDM.
