Enhanced FC-to-SAS/SATA RAID by Infortrend
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, May 21st, 2008
Higher speed and improved scalability
Infortrend has dedicated its RAID expertise to developing these successors to the groundbreaking S12F-R/G1420, delivering enterprise-class networked storage with the following main advantages:
- Reliability: the S12F-R1432 and S12F-G1433 come with built-in hardware RAID 5 and RAID 6 to provide the highest levels of fault tolerance for mission-critical data.
- Performance: in a RAID 5 end-to-end configuration, the S12F can achieve up to 1420MB per second (MBps) reads and 780MBps writes.
- Scalability: the S12F allows users to start with the storage capacity they currently need and scale up to 60TB as more capacity
- Ease of management: the new S12F comes with SANWatch, Infortrend's proprietary storage management software suite, which allows IT personnel to manage complicated storage architectures through a graphical, user-friendly interface. In addition to comprehensive administration features, SANWatch enables advanced data protection through snapshot and multi-pathing (EonPath) functions.
"Offering products that storage managers value and rely on is our goal, so we designed the new S12F RAID arrays to address specific issues raised by our customers," said Thomas Kao, director of global product planning at Infortrend Technology Inc. "Our fifth-generation ASIC400 helps satisfy their need for better performance, while SAS expansion ports address their scalability requirements. SANWatch, our user-friendly storage management software suite, gives IT managers an effective yet straightforward SAN management tool to help them easily manage today's complex storage environments."
Target Markets and Uses
The S12F-R1432 and S12F-G1433 subsystems are ideal for direct-attached storage (DAS), FC SANs, clustered servers, disk-to-disk backup, databases, imaging, online data transactions, enterprise environments, and other applications.
EonStor S12F-R1432/S12F-G1433 Highlights
- 2U, 12-bay, redundant- or single-controller FC-to-SAS/SATA RAID subsystem
- 4G-FC host ports enable outstanding performance for high-bandwidth applications
- Concurrent support for SAS and SATA disk drives addresses the need for tiered storage: SAS drives for mission-critical applications, SATA drives for near-line backup or archives
- Built on Infortrend's fifth generation ASIC400 (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) backbone: hardware RAID 5 and RAID 6 help protect data in the event of drive failures; Dedicated 18Gbps synchronous cache channels for improved RCC (Redundant Controller Communication ) communication
- Multi-lane SAS expansion ports connect to EonStor JBODs for massive add-on storage: S12F-R1432 redundant-controller model connects to up to three S12S-J1002-R JBODs, supporting up to 48 drives for 48TB of data storage when using 1TB SATA hard drives; S12F-G1433 single-controller model connects to up to four S12S-J1000-G JBODs, supporting up to 60 drives for 60TB of data storage when using 1TB SATA hard drives
- Comes with the SANWatch software suite
The S12F-R1432 and S12F-G1433 are now available through Infortrend's worldwide network of ODMs, distributors, and storage integrators.
