Ciprico and AIC Demonstrate Storage Bridge Bay Solutions
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Tue, June 3rd, 2008
At Computex Taipei
“SBB standardizes controller and enclosure specifications giving Ciprico the freedom to focus on storage innovation instead of form factor with a vastly reduced development cost and time to market,” said Andy Mills, senior vice president marketing and development at Ciprico. “We chose an SBB based AMD-server class solution for our TALON® 4 product family, and were able to rapidly bring up our controller in AIC’s first SBB chassis demonstrating just how seamless the transition from one chassis to another can be.”
“We are extremely pleased to be working with Ciprico on this project,” said Gene Lee, vice president of AIC. “To further show how flexible our SBB solution is, we are also showing an Intel based SBB controller at Ciprico’s booth for this same chassis to reinforce just how flexible this approach can be.”
The Storage Bridge Bay Working Group is a co-operative, non-profit effort created to drive standardization of external storage to create a set of commons specs to simplify the manufacturing of entry level and mid tier storage devices.
