Accusys ExaSAN A12S2-PS RAID Based on PCIe 2.0

Accusys, Inc. is introducing its ExaSAN A12S2-PS storage system, a dedicated RAID solution based on high-speed PCI Express 2.0 that fulfills broadcast and post production film/video editing requirements.
The ExaSAN A12S2 provides a range of storage capacities for the media and entertainment industry.
Built from the ground up and in-house by Accusys, the ExaSAN A12S2-PS is designed to be a method for high-speed data access for single video/film editing workstations assuring availability and flexible scalability, all within a small framework without the complexity or cost of conventional FC.
"There were several concerns expressed by customers about the type of storage system they wanted to provide. They wanted a storage solution that had the perfect mix of suitability, stability, and expandability, but not give them any more or less than what they truly require for their workflows initially, thereby keeping within budget," stated the company.
The ExaSAN A12S2-PS offers performance, availability and scalability. It features PCI Express 2.0 technology capable of reaching read speeds of up to 1200MB/s with twelve drives and can perform on multiple HD, 2K and 4K DPX video formats, even dual stream stereoscopic 3D editing workflows.
The ExaSAN A12S2-PS is a 2U 12-bay disk array system designed for all color grading, stereoscopic 3D, multi-layer clip editing and visual effects, as well as supporting RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, and 0+1, 6Gb SAS drives, and high capacity SATA II drives. The single port RAID controller of the ExaSAN A12S2-P2 combined with 12 drives can provide 20Gb bandwidth with its Performance Optimization feature.

The ExaSAN A12S2-PS easily upgrades via Accusys JBOD scalability and shared SAN storage system expansion. Combined with Accusys low latency high-speed PCIe 2.0 throughput, Performance Equalization, DLP technology, our customers have a powerful and unbeatable system."
The A12S2-PS is a video editing storage system foundation ready for the time sensitive broadcast and post production single and multiple workstation infrastructures with improved cost-savings as well as collaborative and timely workflows.
The Accusys ExaSAN A12S2-PS has scalable RAID systems with doubled-up bandwidth and up to 40TB and 66TB in a QSFP Dual Port HBA package. It also has JBOD scalability for up to 264TB and shared SAN storage systems solutions for up to eight workstations to match evolving workflows
Shipments will start at the end of March 2012.
