Tilana Publishes Cloud API Documentation
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, June 25th, 2008
For its data protection, synchronization and archive platform
Tilana Cloud API documentation has been available since March 2008 to developers who passed a Tilana application process. Now the information is freely available for developers to review before applying as a Tilana partner.
"This is the same technology we've used to build our own direct SaaS and our enterprise product line," said Joe Austin, Tilana CEO. "Developers now have the same tools to build an endless array of cloud computing and storage applications powered by Tilana sync and CDP."
Developers can use Tilana Cloud APIs to quickly roll out sophisticated real time CDP functionality in custom applications and systems needing cloud (WAN) based hosted data protection and remote archive storage, as well as automated content synchronization between multiple PCs.
Specific APIs allow for direct access to different features available in either the client (PC/Mac/Mobile) or server side (data center) components of the Tilana Cloud server-based data protection, sync, and archive system.
The Tilana Cloud Web API contains a development interface to remote storage management functionality for file upload/download, remote version history access, remote directory creation, and end-user account management (used to build Tilana MobileClient as well as Tilana WebClient, a.k.a. 'Tilana Reserve Web Access' and 'GateVault Web Access').
The Full Client API in Tilana Cloud lets developers build robust data management applications for PC and Mac desktops, mobile devices, and web browsers, all with fully customized UIs and feature sets that make the fullest use of functionality offered by Tilana technology (used to build the Tilana Client PC desktop software, a.k.a. 'Tilana Reserve desktop software' and 'GateVault desktop software').
Simple applications with fewer UI capabilities are also easily produced with Tilana Cloud. The depth of integration in custom built applications that use Tilana Cloud is left completely up to the developer.
The Tilana Cloud Storage API is a way for custom applications to talk directly to data center servers enabled with Tilana RealCDP server software, which installs on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and 2000, and uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005.
