Jungle Disk Launches Edition 2.0 Powered By Amazon S3
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Wed, June 25th, 2008
Amazon will bill 15 cents per month for each gigabyte of data.
To the user, Jungle Disk appears as a network drive. Data is stored securely onto Amazon S3 where the user can drag, drop, copy or delete as they would on any hard drive. Amazon will bill 15 cents per month for each gigabyte of data, with no minimum or maximum. The user’s data is stored on their personal Amazon.com account. Jungle Disk Desktop Edition is available for a one-time fee of $20, including lifetime free updates.
“Jungle Disk brings the power and flexibility of Amazon S3 to consumers,” said Dave Wright, founder and CEO of Jungle Disk. “I have been interested in the idea of cloud computing for years and realized online storage is a crucial component. Easy to use, unlimited online storage that works transparently is the first step in bringing the power and promise of cloud computing to every consumer.”
Jungle Disk Desktop Edition is available in standard and Plus versions. Plus offers additional features for only $1 a month, including remote access, block level file updates and upload resume.
Along with the new Desktop Edition release, Jungle Disk is making available the first public beta of their new Workgroup Edition, which allows small and medium size businesses to back-up their desktops and share files on a virtual network drive while keeping all data secure on the Amazon S3 service. Both the Desktop Edition and new Workgroup Edition beta are available for download.
Jungle Disk is frequently used for the storage media, like iTunes files, videos or pictures, email files, as well as other electronic information.
