Idera Reveals Backup Solution for SQL Server

In beta, SQL safe 7.0 ($995) brings databases online

At the DevConnections Conference, Idera, a division of BBS Technologies, Inc., announced SQL safe 7.0.

SQL safe is a performance backup and recovery solution for Microsoft SQL Server. With the new, revolutionary Instant Restore technology in version 7.0, production databases can be recovered and online in minutes, not hours.

"With traditional database backup and recovery solutions, users cannot access data until a restore is fully complete," said Heather Sullivan, Director of SQL Server Solutions at Idera. "SQL safe 7.0 solves this problem by not requiring the entire database to be recovered in order for it be brought online. We're excited about this new technology and invite DBAs to try it out and send us their feedback."

SQL safe Instant Restore virtually eliminates database and application downtime during a restore operation. It brings a database online in short time by streaming data from the backup file 'on-demand' to support application and user requests while completing the restore operation in the background.

SQL safe 7.0 is currently in public beta. The public beta program is open now through January 2012, and all SQL Server DBAs are invited to download the beta version, use it free and provide feedback. Idera will be giving away three iPad 2s to DBAs that provide feedback using the Idera Beta Forum.

Version 7.0 will be available in January 2012 and will be priced at $995 per instance.
